Though the team has made very interesting collectible NFT designs from the Pepemon store so far, the battle card game is an important consideration to make these Pepemon come to life. The following were our considerations to the design for the Pepemon battle card game: 1\. Gameplay should be unique on its own and is not a blatant clone of other established popular online/paper card games (though it may take a few elements from those games) 2\. Existing technical limitations of the internet and blockchain (we can always scale in the future once these hindrances are addressed) 3\. The possibility to enjoy the game, even if a player becomes suddenly offline; and 4\. It should be an easy to learn, difficult to master game
#### Because of the above, we have decided on the following features of the first game: ### Pepemon: Degen Battleground 1\. An automatic card game – Players construct their battle deck beforehand with their Pepemon on the side (outside the deck). Once the game starts, the decks of both players run by themselves, representing attacks/defenses of their Pepemon. This addresses any internet connectivity problems that can affect other online card games. 2\. A 1 vs 1 Pepemon card game – This is opposed to a 6 vs 6 match setup. This was decided to make the game very friendly for new players to set up, learn, and play the game. 3\. Drawing and playing several cards per turn – Players want to play their cards, so we believe that the best way for players to appreciate the effects of their unique deck creations is to encourage drawing and playing several cards every turn to enable them to run through their deck every game. 4\. Turns should be resolved quickly – A drawback of # 3 above is that by drawing and playing several cards, turns might take a long time for other games. We made the design in such a way that attack and defense resolutions are still quick every turn. 5\. Auto-shuffling – Another drawback of # 3 above is that this system requires a lot of shuffling – To address this, the decks are automatically shuffled by the system.
## Game Mechanics Each player chooses an NFT Pepemon card with all the skills and stats in it, while having a separate full deck of NFT cards (limited to a minimum of 40 to a maximum of 60 cards). The deck contains a variety of cards which represents Pepemon actions or effects for the entire battle. Before the match, each player decides what to strategically put in their respective deck. Each action/effect card represents an NFT collectible with their own rarities as well. At the beginning of each turn, each player draws cards equal to their Pepemon’s Intelligence stat (usually between 5-7 cards, depending on the Pepemon). During the turn, all of the cards from both players’ hands must be played, and at the end of the turn, all of them are put on the discard pile. This continues until 5 turns are done. During any turn, both Pepemons will attack and defend once using the cards in their hand. However, in each turn, the Pepemon with the higher Speed stat will be able to attack first while the other Pepemon will have to defend first. If they have the same Speed stat, the Pepemon with the higher Intelligence stat will attack first. If still the same, the attack order will be random per turn. Within the turn, after the first Pepemon attacks and the second Pepemon defends, the Pepemon switch roles, where the second Pepemon will have a chance to attack next, while the first Pepemon defends. Each Pepemon usually has two moves – (1) Their default normal attack; and (2) their strong attack. Offense Cards – cards that add to the Pepemon’s base Attack Power and that Attack Power represents the Pepemon’s total damage that it can deal to the opposing Pepemon for that turn (without using any special offense cards). Some of these cards add +3, +4, or +5 to their Attack Power. 2\. Defense Cards – cards that add to the Pepemon’s base Defense Power and represents how much damage the Pepemon can prevent from the attack of the opposing Pepemon for that turn (without using special defense cards). 4\. From empty hands, both players draw cards equal to their Pepemon’s Intelligence statistic 2\. The Pepemon to attack first during the turn is determined. This is the one with the higher Speed stat. If there is a tie, the one with the higher Intelligence stat is chosen. If still also the same, then the first Pepemon to attack during the turn is random. 3\. The player with its Pepemon to attack first lays down all the offense cards and special offense cards, while the other player lays down all the defense cards and special defense cards. Group all the laid down offense cards, the special offense cards, the defense cards, and the special defense cards 4\. Total Attack and Total Defense are calculated. The Total Attack is equal to the Pepemon’s Attack Power from its move (shown in the main Pepemon NFT card), plus all offense cards and special offense cards laid down during this sequence. The Total Defense of the other Pepemon is equal to the Pepemon’s Defense Power (shown in the other Pepemon’s NFT card), plus all defense cards and special defense cards laid down during this sequence. 5\. Damage is resolved. The damage dealt by the first Pepemon to the second Pepemon is equal to the Total Attack minus the Total Defense. 6\. To discourage turtling strategies (putting mostly defense cards), damage dealt by the first Pepemon to the second Pepemon will always resolve with a minimum of 1 damage, so the second Pepemon takes at least 1 damage no matter what, even if the Total Attack is less than the Total Defense. 7\. If the resolved damage reduces the HP of the second Pepemon to 0, the player of the first Pepemon wins. 8\. The Pepemon switch roles. The second Pepemon becomes the attacking Pepemon and its player lays down all the offense and special offense cards, while the player of the first Pepemon lays down all the defense and special defense cards. At this point both players have no cards in hand. 9\. Damage is resolved similar to steps 5 to 7 with the second Pepemon also dealing at least 1 damage to the first Pepemon. 10\. If the game continues at this point, all of the played cards are put in the Discard pile. 11\. If this is the 5th turn already (or any succeeding 5 turns thereafter), the decks and discard piles of both players must be reshuffled to a fresh new deck each before the next turn starts.
## Pepemon’s Statistics The Pepemon’s statistics are as follows: 1\. HP – Hitpoints of the Pepemon 2\. Pepemon Type – The type of Pepemon it is, depending on the nature of the Pepemon (Fire, Plant, Water, etc.). 3\. Intelligence – The number of cards drawn by the player at the beginning of each turn 4\. Speed – How fast the Pepemon is. Mainly determines whether it will attack first during a turn 5\. Normal Attack Power/Type – The default amount of damage the Pepemon can deal every turn if there are no offense and special offense cards associated with it. This is the attack power in the first moveset of the Pepemon. The Total Attack of the Pepemon during the turn is equal to the Normal Attack Power plus the result of any offense and special offense cards associated with it. 6\. Strong Attack Power/Type – This is the amount of Damage of the Pepemon on its second, more powerful move. This attack power will be used instead of the Normal Attack Power if a card like “Use Strong Attack” card is played during the turn. If so, then the Total Attack of the Pepemon during this turn is instead equal to the Strong Attack Power plus the result of any offense and special offense cards associated with it. 7\. Defense Power – This is the amount of Defense the Pepemon has each turn, assuming no defense cards and special defense cards were played during the turn. ## In-game economy (DeFi, Play2Earn) and future plans There will be an economy associated with this and will utilize PPDEX (and probably some other in-game currency) to purchase the booster packs. This should increase the utility of the PPDEX beyond buying collectors cards from the store. PPDEX holders will also have the ability to farm this in-game currency. Just like the NFT collectibles, these NFT battle cards can also be bought/sold on marketplaces like on Opensea.

Begin on your desktop - Pepemon app on mobile it's on its way! 2. Using Chrome or Firefox? Great! Ensure [Metamask](https://metamask.io/) is installed. 3. Visit [Fantom Testnet Faucet](https://faucet.fantom.network/) to collect FTM (Testnet) for in-game transactions. It lets you build and battle with card decks! 4. Simply input a wallet address you have in your wallet and you should receive FTM (Testnet) in a few seconds. To add Fantom Testnet to your wallet [check the RPC list available on Chainlist](https://chainlist.org/?search=Fantom+Testnet\&testnets=true) ## Create your battle decks 1. Start the alpha version at [play.pepemon.world](https://play.pepemon.world/)

2. **Click to Start** and **Connect wallet**. {% hint style="info" %} You might have to add Fantom Testnet to the network list on your Metamask if you haven't had it already, just accept the network add dialogue in Metamask.\ \ We are using some fast RPC endpoints for this provided by ANKR so everything should be safe and speedy like a Dumpesaur charging his opponent! {% endhint %}

Connect your wallet to start creating and battling others

3. When you connected your wallet successfully, then you can start creating your first Battle Deck by going for **Manage Decks** options from the menu.

If this is your first time playing from that wallet address the list will be empty, let's create your first Battle Deck

4. To create a new Battle Deck, click on **Mint New Deck** button from top right and accept the transaction from Metamask. This will mint an ERC721 token that is representing your Battle Deck. 5. If the Metamask transaction is successful you should now be seeing the new Battle Deck visible on the page. Let's hit **Edit** in order to add some monster and support cards to it.

Hit Edit button under the newly created Battle Deck to edit the cards inside.

6. When you enter Edit mode you should be able to see your Pepemon cards and Support cards present on the wallet connected. As this is your first deck you might not have any, don't worry by accessing the **Mint cards** button you will be able to get some test cards so you can create a couple of decks.

Click on Mint Cards to mint some test battle cards and be able to create your first deck of cards.

7. After confirming the transaction on Metamask you should be able to see in a couple of seconds new cards being present in this screen, these are your test Battle cards that you can use to create your first Battle deck.

Select your a Pepemon card and at least 6 support cards in order to be able to create your first battle deck!

8. Choose your Pepemon monster card and then add as many as 60 support cards on your Battle Deck. 9. Click **Save** and **confirm all the transactions from Metamask. This is an important step, make sure there's no failed transactions and if you encounter any errors you need to hit Save again until the transactions are successful.** 10. You can now head back from Edit mode of your Battle deck by pressing the **< button** 11. If everything went good you should be able to see now the updated information on your deck - with the name of the Pepemon and the support cards correctly displayed in this screen.

Hint: create more Battle Decks to master different strategies; Are you on an offensive or defensive approach?

## Start battling other Degens! Now that you have your first Battle Deck is time to start battling others on blockchain! Go back from Manage Decks page by pressing the < button and then hit **Start game** from the main menu!

Start your first Pepemon Degen Battleground round by choosing Start Game option

You will need to choose **Rice league** in the next screen; Don't worry no PPDEX is needed for the testing phase.

On the final version of the game, users will have to use PPDEX to attend a league. Based on the league they choose the prizes for winning battles against other trainers will also be different. For testing purposes please only choose Rice league, which is free.

**Select** your battle deck and then hit on **Search for Opponent**

You need to have at least one valid Battle Deck to search for an opponent and you need to confirm the transaction on Metamask to start battling other degens.

Confirm all the transactions from Metamask in order to deposit your Battle Deck into the matchmaking contract and wait patiently until we find an opponent for you. The battle is resolved automagically in blockchain when 2 Battle Decks are deposited in the smart contracts and results are being displayed on the game screen.

You can always exit the matchmaking if you are done waiting, but you can always leave the tab open so when another degen comes to play the results of the battle will be shown on the screen.

While staking PPBLZ-ETH LP tokens will yield \~30 PPDEX per year per PPBLZ. PPDEX is the currency used to purchase Pepemon NFT cards, Booster packs, Pepemon One Subscription and a future in-game currency for Pepemon: Battle Degen. ## Farm PPDEX at normal rate with single asset staking Once you have PPBLZ in your wallet, you may set the amount of PPBLZ you’d like to stake to farm PPBLZ as a single asset, these can be removed from staking at any time. Click the stake button labeled *STAKE* and accept all transaction fees and approval prompts. Once the transaction finishes, you’ll see the Amount staked section populated with your amount. If you do not see a value in Amount staked, then you are not generating PPDEX. Always double-check this when staking new PPBLZ. Under the GET PPDEX section of the staking screen, you may press the update button to show how much PPDEX you currently have generated. You may also hit CLAIM below that at any point to withdraw your PPDEX so that it is usable elsewhere. ## Farm PPDEX with 2X Boost on the Uniswap LP You may also stake within our [Liquidity Pool](https://app.uniswap.org/#/add/ETH/0x4d2ee5dae46c86da2ff521f7657dad98834f97b8) for 2x the rewards in PPDEX. This is done by supplying an equal value of ETH to your value in PPBLZ. This yields \~30 PPDEX per year per PPBLZ in Uniswap LP. **Now we head back to the staking website, if your LP tokens do not show up, please check if the ERC transaction was finalized and not still pending, and refresh the website.**

**Press that button and approve the prompts, let the transaction run and you should be set to go!**
**Please note that your LP tokens will be locked for 30 days after depositing, after the 30 days you can cancel your subscription at any time and you will receive your LP tokens back.**

Entire battle card packs are going to be rewarded for those that hold Collector Edition cards. If you see an event you’d like to participate in, but do not have the required NFT, there will always be a purchase option hosted on Opensea (an NFT trading website). If another Pepetrainer lists the item for sale there, you will be able to purchase it directly from them. # How do I get a Pepemon? If you haven't deal with cryptocurrencies and Ethereum before this is a complete guide on how to purchase your first Ether and then convert that into PPBLZ/PPDEX and start claiming your fav Pepemons. New to crypto? New to NFTs? New to Pepemon? Then this is the section for you! This section will cover, in detail, how to change your country's currency into crypto that you can use to *farm them all!* 1. The first major step is purchasing crypto. Ethereum is the recommended coin to purchase, as it’s used for buying PPBLZ directly. Depending on your country, [coinbase](https://www.coinbase.com/) is a popular choice, though a quick google search will lead you to many methods to purchase. You can also try looking for a cryptocurrency exchange recommended in your location on the [LocalBitcoins](https://localbitcoins.com/) website. You’ll have to go through whatever verification process that specific site asks for. After the account creation, purchase as much Ethereum as you'd like for your future trades.
2. The second step is creating a wallet in which to use as a platform for trading. A crypto wallet is your own, there is no bank, there is no company you can call to reset your password. YOU are your own bank. You must be responsible with your wallet and its SEED PHRASE it provides you on setup. If you lose this, you will lose access to your wallet and the funds in it if you need to recover it. It is recommended that you physically write down your seed phrase and store it in multiple secure locations. What wallet should you choose? As of late Metamask has been extremely useful in performing all sorts of transactions and exchanges. It has mobile access as well. We recommend getting the Metamask plugin for your chrome or firefox desktop browser. Head on over and create your wallet there, just google Metamask plugin and follow the instructions. 3. Okay, you have your empty wallet, lets fill it with that Ethereum you just purchased. There will be a send or withdraw section within the company website you purchased Ethereum from. Opening the withdraw or send section will prompt you to enter an address to send the Ethereum to. Your new wallet has an address unique to it that we need to use. Click the Metamask fox icon at the top right of your browser (you need to pin the plugin if it's not already showing here). The Metamask window will appear showing some useful information. We’re after the “Account” section shown towards the top middle, right under Ethereum Mainnet. Under “Account” there is the address you need, it will start in 0x… If you click on this, it will copy the address to your clipboard, allowing you to paste it back into the sending address from before. **IMPORTANT -** Make very sure that the address appears as is, with no extra spaces or extra characters, as you can send your Ethereum off to someone else without a way of getting it back! If you want to make sure the address appears properly, click the three dots at the top right of Metamask’s window and select Account Details, this will show the full address. 4. Now you’ve sent your Ethereum, over to your Metamask wallet! Things take time in the crypto world, be patient. Depending on how many transactions are flooding Ethereum, the transaction can take up to tens of minutes or longer. **IMPORTANT –** Make sure to keep a fair amount of Ethereum in your wallet to cover transaction fees for future purchases, and for staking later on. Without funds to cover transaction fees, you’ll be stuck unless you send more Ethereum to your wallet. We recommend keeping 0.1-0.2 ETH at all times to cover fees. It’s time to purchase PPBLZ or PPDEX with your new wallet! Head on over to Pepemon.finance and use the links at the bottom of this page that say BUY $PPBLZ or BUY $PPDEX. This will take you to Uniswap, a website used to trade your Ethereum into other coins, in this case, PPBLZ or PPDEX. Either enter the amount of PPBLZ or PPDEX you would like to purchase or enter the amount of ETH you would like to spend, and it will auto calculate the amount you will get in return. Click SWAP and accept any transaction fees to start the process. As stated before, transactions will have an estimated completion time based on current traffic. If you don’t mind higher fees, you may click edit on the gas fee prompt and select fast to more likely ensure transactions do not fail. You will get a notification stating the transaction was either successful or failed. If it has failed, this is likely due to the price of PPBLZ or PPDEX changing while you placed your order, requiring you to replace your order at the new current price. You are now proud owners of PPBLZ or PPDEX! 5. You may now start staking your PPBLZ (if purchased) to start generating PPDEX to purchase your cards! You can now close the dialog box. ## Transferring your assets from the Ethereum mainchain to the Matic mainnet To transfer your assets from the Ethereum mainchain to the Matic mainnet for use on QuickSwap, **please use the POS bridge**. With the POS bridge you can quickly move your assets from the Ethereum mainchain to the Matic mainnet. Now **open the Matic Web Wallet**. Here you’ll be able to transfer your assets from Ethereum over to Matic. You can access the Matic Web Wallet here: [**https://wallet.matic.network**](https://wallet.matic.network/). **Once you access your wallet, connect it to your MetaMask account** (with the Ethereum mainnet selected as the network)**.** The Matic Web Wallet supports MetaMask. After connecting to your MetaMask account, it will then navigate back to the Matic Wallet interface. You can easily deposit your funds from Ethereum to Matic using the web wallet. Ensure you have ETH or ERC 20 tokens on the Ethereum mainnet. **Step 1:** Switch from PLASMA BRIDGE to **POS BRIDGE**. Click on the **“Switch to POS”** button in the Matic Wallet. **Step 2: After clicking on the “Matic Wallet”** button, a **“Deposit”** button will appear below, just above the “Withdraw” button. Click on the **“Deposit”** button. You’ll get a popup where you can then enter which token you plan to deposit with the amount. Make sure your deposit amount doesn’t exceed the funds you have available. After you fill in the details, click on the “**Deposit to Matic Network”** button. **Step 3:** After clicking on “**Deposit to Matic Network”**, you’ll be asked to “C**onfirm” your transaction in the MetaMask wallet.** Once your transaction is successful, you’ll receive a confirmation message. Your funds should be shortly deposited onto the Matic Network. **Step 4:** Once your transaction is successful you can switch over to the Matic Network on MetaMask in order to interact with Layer 2.
