If youâre wondering which wallet you should use, consider downloading MetaMask. MetaMask is a free and secure browser extension that allows users to seamlessly interact with the Ethereum blockchain.
New users can download and configure MetaMask from here.
Youâll need to configure the Fantom Network custom RPC to your MetaMask. Itâs pretty simple and straightforward, and itâs easy to switch back and forth between Layer 1 and Layer 2 using the button near the top of the MetaMask application.
Click on the network selection button on the top of the app.
Click on the âCustom RPCâ to add the Matic mainnet information.
Select âCustom RPCâ.
Enter in the Fantom mainnet details as follows:
Network Name: Fantom Opera
New RPC Url: https://rpcapi.fantom.network
ChainID: 250
Symbol: FTM
Block Explorer URL: https://ftmscan.com/
Be sure you donât miss any of the above fields. Once youâve added the details click on the âSaveâ button. Youâll then be connected to the Fantom mainnet.
You can now close the dialog box and see that Fantom network is one of the options:
Transferring your assets from the Ethereum mainchain to the Fantom mainnet
To transfer your assets from the Ethereum mainchain to the Fantom mainnet for use on Sushiswap, I used https://multichain.xyz. With the bridge you can quickly move your assets from the Ethereum mainchain to the Fantom mainnet.
You can easily deposit your funds from Ethereum to Fantom using the Metamask web wallet. Ensure you have ETH or ERC 20 tokens on the Ethereum mainnet.
Step 1: Head over to the https://multichain.xyz/ website
Connect your wallet by pressing connect wallet on the top right of the page
Now select Metamask and log in to your Metamask wallet. Since we are swapping from the Ethereum chain to another chain, make sure your Metamask currently has the Ethereum (main) network selected. You can check this on the top right of the Multichain website or inside your Metamask wallet
Step 2: After connecting your âMetamask Walletâ and making sure the correct network is selected the next steps should be easy. Select the âFromâ icon.
It should automatically show you what current projects in your wallet can be swapped by the Mulichain bridge. Select your Pepedex or Pepeballs, whichever you want to bridge. In this example I will bridge my Pepedex.
Whenever you press the amount of PPDEX on the top right it will result in using the maximum available PPDEX. Whenever you do this it will ask ridiculous gas feeâs
Make sure you only have 2 digits behind the comma to avoid high gas feeâs
This should decrease the gas by A LOT. Now make sure you select the desired output chain at the bottom, in this case we use the $FTM chain.
The little logo next to the Pepedex logo shows what chain is selected.
Step 3: Hit the transfer button
After hitting the transfer button your Metamask should pop up and ask for a confirmation
As you can see, i reduced the digits behind the comma to 2 digits and the gas fee is now a lot less:
Just hit accept and your transfer should be initiated
To show the newly bridged PPDEX in your Metamask FTM setup please add the following token adress:
PPDEX token adress:
PPBLZ token adress
Bridging back the other way around works exactly the same! Please take note that you need to pay a minimum of 2.2 PPDEX as a bridge fee to swap from FTM>ERC + FTM gas feeâs
